Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Camp Sports Instructors to join our team for the upcoming summer camp season. The Camp Sports Instructor will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading sports activities and games for elementary school students attending our camp. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, experience working with children, and the ability to create a fun and safe environment for campers to learn and engage in physical activity.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge and skills in a variety of sports and physical activities suitable for elementary school students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and able to motivate and inspire campers to participate and succeed in sports activities.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of camp.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced camp environment.
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
- Background check may be required.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate sports activities and games for elementary school students attending the camp.
- Develop lesson plans and daily schedules that promote skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Instruct campers on proper techniques, rules, and strategies for various sports including soccer, basketball, tennis, flag football and others.
- Demonstrate and model sportsmanship, fair play, and positive behavior to campers.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers during sports activities and enforce camp rules and regulations.
- Supervise and actively participate in all sports-related activities, providing encouragement and support to campers as they learn and play.
- Set up and maintain sports equipment and facilities, ensuring they are clean, safe, and in good working condition.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members regarding sports activities, schedules, and camper progress.
- Assist in the planning and execution of special events, tournaments, and field trips related to sports and physical activity.
- Collaborate with other camp staff to integrate sports activities with other camp programs and initiatives.
Schedule
This is a seasonal position that typically runs during the summer months, with opportunities for additional hours during school breaks and holidays. The Camp Sports Instructor will work a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm.
